The NEW Wicked Winder - Generic/DMC Plastic + Cardboard Bobbins

Tired of winding your bobbins by hand? The Wicked Winder is a 3D printed adapter to allow you to wind your embroidery floss bobbins using a drill or cordless screwdriver!

Simply open the adapter, slide your bobbin in, snap it closed and get to winding! Unlike other hand winders the pin that keeps the bobbin in place is attached to the adapter so there is no risk of losing it.

This improved version of the Wicked Winder now uses magnets to stay closed instead of the previous closure mechanism that could wear out over time. Not only will this version never wear out but it is far easier to use as it takes much less force to open and close (allowing for one handed loading and unloading). We have also replaced the 3D printed drill adapters with a metal one to prevent breakage due to accidental drops.

This does not include the pictured electric screw driver.

This has been tested with both plastic and cardboard genuine DMC bobbins as well as generic plastic and cardboard bobbins.

Drill: This will work with any drill that has an adjustable chuck (that will tighten onto the winder) or uses a 1/4 in hex quick release mechanism (see video for an example). We recommend you use this with a drill that has variable speed so that you can control how fast it winds.

Cordless Screwdriver: This will work with cordless screwdrivers that use 1/4 in hex bits. These usually have a lower RPM than drills, making them easier to use, as well as a smaller size which is great for storing with your craft supplies. If going this route we recommend one that does not use magnets to hold in the bits as this will on hold the plastic winders as well. If you do not already have a cordless screwdriver or drill we have a tested a few brands and highly recommend the "NEIKO 10577A Cordless Power Screwdriver" which you can find on Amazon, it is fairly cheap, has a very small, comfortable form factor and the perfect speed for winding bobbins.
